Near the end of another school year

It's amazing to see the drastic changes with each student. Watching them grow as a person throughout the school years is always interesting. When a new child comes to the school for a tour they love playing especially in the new environment. But when they start their first day, they tend to cry and some just play thinking mom, dad, or grandparents are still with them at the school. It may take a few days to get adjusted but once they do, they never seem to want to go home, even though in the mornings they just don't want to be at school. Most kids tend to be shy but once they are in their comfort zone, they love to talk up a storm. Seeing a new child start at Coastal whom barely even talks to talking even a short sentence that grows into storytelling is quite something. It's been a great school year and I am thankful to get to watch each child grow as an individual. I cannot believe the seastars are going to soon be graduating at the end of this month. My how time flies. I will be back to post more but for now I need to finish up my lunch and head on back to Coastal.

Seahorses!!

Hello seahorse families. Happy Tuesday to you! I'm going to give you the scoop on what we will be talking about for the next two weeks. I'm off starting Friday May 22 and won't be back until Monday June 1st.

This week we started talking about bugs!! we started the topic off by talking about caterpillars and how they turn into butterfly's. At circle time on Monday we couldn't find our hungry caterpillar book so the kids and i started to make up our own version of the story which they loved because they got to decide what the caterpillar ate. =D

Tomorrow we also be talking about insects and how insects only have six legs and 3 main body parts. So ask your kids tomorrow and they should know the leg part at least =).

SHARE THEME FOR THIS WEEK IS ....

Pleas have your child bring in a plastic toy, PICTURE, or stuffed toy of their favorite Bug/ insect. I can't wait to see what they may be..

Next week we will be talking about lady bugs which are insects and bees. I'm sure the kids will just love these two subjects just as they love the caterpillar/butterfly.Bees have been a huge interest for the kids so it should be funny to see how they act after learning more about them. We might have little bees flying around us. =)

SHARE THEME FOR NEXT WEEK IS SOMETHING BLACK OR YELLOW since we will be talking about bees which are black and yellow.

Have a great week!!! I will see you all later.

Hello seastar families I hope everyone had a wonderful mother's day. This week we will be working on two letters K and Q. In addition to the phonics we will be talking about flowers and what they grow. Today we planted some of our own veggies and flowers to watch and help grow. Each day the seastars will be watering and checking on the growth of our seeds. This Friday for share day I would like the kids to bring in a flower to share with their classmates and to use for our art project. I would also like to thank all of you parents for a great teacher appreciation week. I really appreciate all the thoughtfulness that was put into that week. Thanks again!!

May flowers

Hello seahorse families. This week we are talking all about Flowers. Today we talked about the different parts of flowers for example i had the kids locate the stem etc. We will also be talking about sunflowers and other types of flowers that the kids will enjoy.
Tomorrow and Wednesday we will start to plant some of our seed that parents brought in =). We planted Lima beans an they enjoyed that a lot so I'm sure this will be way more fun.
